Should I have gotten a better raise? Im a Nanny. please read?
To be honest, I think $10 an hour isn't that bad for watching only 1 child. I have an almost 2 year old and I am currently a stay at home mom. One of the main reasons I never went back to work is because the cost of child care is expensive and I wasn't making enough money at my job to cover it. So instead I decided to stay home with my daughter. I completely understand that you have been taking care of their child for 2 years and want a raise, but you also have to remember that the money you are making is coming from their pockets. However, I don't think its right for them to expect you to do all the chores of the house and be their maid/housekeeper as well as the nanny to their child. I also don't think its right for her to tell you she will be home by a certain time and then not be there. I used to watch my friend's son and she did that to me all the time and I was always late for things because she wasn't home on time. I don't think you are being greedy but I also don't think she is being cheap. I think you need to sit down with her and go over everything she expects from you as her nanny and you should explain to her everything you believe you should be doing as a nanny. If you can't come to an agreement on the amount of chores or the amount of money she pays you then maybe you should look for a new job. Sorry if my answer didn't help at all. Good luck!
