Boston Terrier--okay with Halti, if not then what?

I'm trying to help train and exercise a Boston terrier, an adult one who has received little to no training and is consequently pretty much out of control. I would like to walk this dog--he needs exercise-- but he cannot be trusted at all off leash, and I can't walk for half an hour having my arm yanked around. I'm wondering if a Halti works okay on such a short nosed dog. I've never had to use one on any of my own dogs so don't know much about them. Also, his elderly owner can't walk him at all the way he is, so we need something that will allow her to take control with little physical force. Any other suggestions welcome.
